Digital Photography - A Review of the User Friendly D3100 DSLR Digital Camera

It was once thought that most casual users of digital cameras would find DSLR cameras out of their league or just something they had little to no use for. A cheaper SLR was more than suited to their needs and the less they had to spend, the better. Still, the limitations of the lower cost, but consumer friendly models are apparent to anyone who has used them. Unless you luck out with a decent model or really know what you're going to suffer from lower quality.

Nikon hopes to change the minds of people who buy cameras with the new D3100. Their hoping people will pay the extra money for a user-friendly high quality camera. They're relying heavily on the HD video option to drive sales along with the 14.2 megapixels. Anyone can look at a camera and comment on how cool it looks but what it does and how it functions are all that matters. I had a camera that looked really cool but didn't do much of anything else.

Nowadays, as technology advances at what seems to be the speed of light, the new gadget on the market is something that is so superior that everyone needs to own it. Usually the second it comes out too. Just look at how many people went out and bought the iPhone 4 and then look at all the problems that came with it. Did people thing about this first? Of course not. It proves two things. People are still impulsive and people still want the best.

Overall I think the D3100 is a good camera for those who aren't exactly professional photographers. I am far from a professional and find it very easy to take high quality pictures and record videos with it. It's probably not perfect for the professional photographer but the amateur will be more than happy with the extra money they used to purchase their first DSLR camera.

The price tag might be a bit much for some people and is certainly the major limitation of the camera. If you're not someone who is a stickler for the highest possible quality then this isn't the camera for you. If you are the type who wants to take pictures in many different conditions and under many different circumstances then this may be a worthwhile investment for you.
