Kindle DX Review - New Kindle 9.7 Inch Wireless Reading Device - Is It Worth the Price?

Well supposedly the Kindle DX will be the biggest selling Christmas present for men this year. It currently has 2,332 Reviews on Amazon, 1,222 5-star, 237 1-star (as of Nov 10th 2010).

However, is it just me or are the iPad and the Kindle just simply awkward and impractical to use? I recently saw a guy on the underground with an iPad trying to stand there holding it in his palm with the other hand tapping it, all the while trying not to fall over.

Well I suppose with the Kindle you can grip it without your thumb covering the screen, but the damn thing's so slim I'd just imagine losing it in a week.

Should you buy Amazon's Kindle DX?: Well it comes down to what you want to read. If it's reading magazine articles, journal articles, and newspapers then user reviews on Amazon state that it's perfect for this.

If it's for smaller sized material then the Kindle 2 is more than proficient and cheaper.

However the search features of the DX may prove to be invaluable for students, and there's no doubt the DX helps in areas of portability..rice

Features and Benefits:

Attractive Large Display: The 9.7? diagonal E-ink screen (essentially the size of a quite big hard-back book but obviously much slimmer), is much better suited to a broad range of reading material such as their graphic-rich books, PDFs and newspapers which are included, as opposed to their earlier smaller models.

Negatives:

It's 2010 - What about COLOR? Reading PDFs which come in color will look bland as will pictures from any form of media.

Folder organization is non existent! Right now, all articles/blogs/PDFs/newspapers/books etc get lumped together in one big menu. Not having the ability to organise everything into categories I think is a major floor and not too difficult fix. Maybe future upgrades will incorporate this.

The memory card slot is missing from the DX. Not allowing the user to add extra memory is annoying.

Do we Recommend it?

90% of reviews on Amazon do rave about it so it's not all bad but fixing some of the points listed under negatives would help. It's a bit pricey but this years must have pressie for some. The "DADDY" of Christmas presents if you're an avid reader.

What is prominent in most Lumix GF2 reviews is the new sensor added to this model. This Live MOS sensor allows every user to obtain photos with detail that is normally seen in professional cameras. The reason for this is the sensor is eight times bigger than those found in cameras of this type.

The new Lumix GF2 is a camera that has it all. The only drawback at this point may be the touch screen feature rather than a dial mode. As this appears to be a personal preference of the user, only you can decide if it is right for you. The camera body itself though is a definite improvement.
